Jamestown House is an elegant farmhouse built around c. 1810, but integrating a smaller seventeenth-century house with surviving joinery of c. 1750. The house was fully refurbished, including creation of new bathrooms, alterations to the kitchen to reconfigure attic rooms as a mezzanine, and insertion of rooflight over the main staircase to bring light into the centre of the house. A new heating system and other building services were carefully considered to retain the special character of an elegant country residence.
