Project Details

Conservation of the disused mortuary chapel in Goldenbridge Cemetery, which was established as Ireland’s first garden cemetery in 1829. The chapel completed by Patrick Byrne in 1836 as a Grecian Ionic temple had fallen into disrepair and suffered badly from vandalism. Repairs were completed to the roof, Roman cement render, the interior as well and the external plinth. In addition a conservation plan was prepared for the cemetery, and repairs were undertaken to the gate lodge.
